Reggie Jackson

Reginald Martinez Jackson, born on May 18, 1946, is a retired American baseball right fielder renowned for his illustrious 21-year career in Major League Baseball (MLB), where he played for the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics, Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, and California Angels. Over the span of his career, Jackson's teams claimed first place eleven times, with only two seasons marred by losing records. His stellar achievements earned him a coveted induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993.

Affectionately known as "Mr. October," Jackson earned this nickname for his exceptional postseason performances, particularly with the Athletics and Yankees. He was instrumental in leading the Oakland Athletics to five consecutive American League West division titles, three straight AL pennants, and three World Series championships from 1972 to 1974. Later, with the Yankees, he contributed to four AL East titles, three AL pennants, and back-to-back World Series victories in 1977 and 1978. In a remarkable feat, he hit three consecutive home runs in the decisive Game Six of the 1977 World Series.

With a career total of 563 home runs, Jackson was a 14-time American League All-Star, winning two Silver Slugger Awards and the AL Most Valuable Player Award in 1973. He also received two World Series MVP Awards and the Babe Ruth Award in 1977. His jersey number was retired by both the Yankees in 1993 and the Athletics in 2004. Currently, he serves as a special advisor to the Houston Astros, celebrating a sixth championship with their 2022 World Series win. Jackson co-authored the book *Sixty-Feet Six-Inches* in 2010 with fellow Hall of Famer Bob Gibson, reflecting on their careers and philosophies in baseball.
