Eleanor Margaret Jane Sherwin (née Parsons; 3 November 1934 – 16 December 2022) was a distinguished British actress celebrated for her significant contributions to science fiction television, particularly her memorable roles in the classic series Doctor Who, specifically in the serial The War Games, and Blake's 7.

Sherwin's journey in the performing arts began after she graduated from the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1954. Initially, she worked under her maiden name, gaining experience through various television appearances and Provincial Repertory productions. After a brief hiatus to raise her three children, she returned to the screen in the late 1960s, adopting her married name following her union with actor and producer Derrick Sherwin.

Following the end of her acting career and her marriage, Jane dedicated her time to charitable endeavors, contributing to organizations such as Amnesty International, where she served as the Central America Coordinator for the British Section, and working with the homeless and refugees. In addition, she engaged with the local community by collating poetry for various collections and hosting writing sessions at St Michael and All Angels Church in Barnes, where she was an active member for over five decades.

Jane Sherwin passed away on 16 December 2022, leaving behind a legacy of both artistic achievement and compassionate service, at the age of 88.
