Hairi Katagiri
Hairi Katagiri was born in Tokyo in 1963. She pursued her education at Seikei University, where she studied Japanese Literature in the Faculty of Letters. Her passion for acting began while she was working part-time at the Ginza Bunka Cinema, a movie theater that sparked her interest in the performing arts. Since the 1980s, Hairi has expanded her career to include performances in television and film, although she remains primarily dedicated to the stage. In recent years, she has collaborated on numerous theatrical productions under the direction of notable figures such as Suzuki Matsuo and Shūji Onodera.
Hairi’s versatility as an actress is evident through her diverse roles in television dramas. She has portrayed characters ranging from an “Ama-san” (sea woman) to a teacher and a scientist, showcasing her ability to adapt to various personas. In addition to her acting career, she continues to give back to the community by volunteering at Kineka Omori, a local cinema, where she assists as a ticket taker.
Her most recent film projects include "Kinema no Kamisama," which premiered on August 6, 2021, and "Koi no Manazashi," also released in 2021. Hairi Katagiri remains a prominent figure in the performing arts, known for her dedication and passion for her craft.
