Steven Schachter is a prominent American director and screenwriter known for his work in television, theatre, and film. He has built a notable career, particularly through his collaborations with actor William H. Macy. Together, they crafted a series of successful cable movies, including *The Con* (1998), *A Slight Case of Murder* (1999), *Door to Door* (2002), and *The Wool Cap* (2004), with Schachter directing all of these projects featuring Macy in the lead roles.
In addition to these collaborations, Schachter has directed various other made-for-TV films, most notably an adaptation of David Mamet's play *The Water Engine*.
