Irene Taylor is an acclaimed director and producer recognized for her impactful storytelling, earning nominations for an Oscar and multiple Emmy, duPont, and Peabody awards throughout her career.
Her latest documentary, *Trees And Other Entanglements*, premiered on HBO in late 2023, delving into humanity's deep-rooted fascination with trees. In 2022, she received the prestigious Columbia-duPont Award for her compelling work on *Leave No Trace: A Hidden History of The Boy Scouts*, which critically examined the trust placed in this iconic institution.
Irene’s personal narrative shines through in *Moonlight Sonata: Deafness in Three Movements*, which debuted at Sundance in 2019 and later garnered a nomination for Special Merit in Documentary Filmmaking at the 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards. This film poignantly intertwines her experiences with her deaf son and father, alongside the story of Beethoven's struggle with deafness.
Starting her career in photojournalism, Irene’s first feature documentary, *Hear and Now*, won the Audience Award at Sundance in 2007 and was recognized globally with a Peabody Award. Her HBO documentary *Beware the Slenderman* earned Emmy nominations in 2017 and was well-received by critics.
