Maggie Poon Mei-Kei
Maggie Poon Mei-Kei emerged in the film industry with her debut role as "Bean Curd" in the acclaimed movie ‘Spacked Out’, despite having no prior acting experience. Initially, she attended an audition at Milky Way Image merely to accompany her classmates. Although she did not intend to audition herself, a staff member noticed her, collected her contact information, and snapped a few pictures. During the first round of auditions, director Lawrence Ah-Mon overlooked her, feeling she resembled a doll rather than an everyday individual.
However, fate intervened when assistant director Four Tse Liu-Shut encountered Maggie during a commercial shoot. Impressed by her portrayal of a rebellious character, Liu-Shut presented the advertisement to Ah-Mon, who subsequently recognized her talent and cast her as "Bean Curd." Following her breakout role, Maggie collaborated with director Soi Cheang, taking on the lead female role of 'May' in ‘Diamond Hill’. She further showcased her versatility in the horror film ‘Inner Senses’, directed by Chi-Leung Law, where she shared the screen with the legendary Leslie Cheung. Her final cinematic appearance came in the action film ‘SPL’, directed by Wilson Yip Wai-Shun. After this project, Maggie gradually stepped away from the limelight, leaving behind a remarkable legacy in Hong Kong cinema.
