Stana Katic
Stana Katić is a Canadian actress and producer renowned for her portrayal of Kate Beckett on the ABC series Castle (2009–2016) and FBI Special Agent Emily Byrne in the Amazon Prime Video thriller Absentia (2017–2020).
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, to Serbian immigrants Petar and Rada Katic from Croatia, she is the youngest of six siblings, with four brothers and one sister. Katic's journey into acting began in theater during her time at Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario. She further honed her craft at the University of Toronto and later at the Goodman School of Drama at DePaul University.
Following her graduation, Katic embarked on her television career, making guest appearances in notable series such as 24, The Closer, and CSI: NY, and had a recurring role in HBO's Damages. Her breakthrough came in 2009 when she was cast as Kate Beckett in Castle, a role that garnered critical acclaim and a loyal fan base over eight successful seasons. Her performance earned her multiple accolades, including a People's Choice Award for Favorite Dramatic TV Actress and a Shorty Award for Best Actress.
In 2017, Katic took on the role of Emily Byrne in Absentia, a series that chronicles the struggles of an FBI agent who returns to her job after being missing for six years, which led to a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
In addition to her acting career, Katic co-founded Katic Productions in 2013, producing a variety of short films and television pilots.
