Hamid Djavadan

Hamid Réza Djavadan launched his artistic journey in the United States in 1976, engaging with the Iranian Theatre and the Living Theatre. He expanded his expertise in Canada, immersing himself in Commedia dell'Arte and exploring various theatrical forms, including mask work, Balinese martial arts, dance, makeup, and singing. His artistic path took him to France, where he collaborated with the Cartoucherie de Vincennes and various other theatrical companies.

Throughout his career, Djavadan has directed a multitude of stage productions while also establishing himself as a film actor. Since 1983, he has brought to life works by renowned playwrights such as Ben Jonson, Christopher Marlowe, William Shakespeare, Pierre de Marivaux, Jean Giraudoux, Jean-Claude Carrière, W.B. Yeats, and Federico García Lorca, alongside celebrated Iranian authors like Sadegh Hedayat, Bahram Beyzai, and Sadeq Chubak. He has also delved into ancient texts, showcasing adaptations of significant works like Kalila and Dimna, the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Shahnameh, and Homer's Iliad.

As a true global citizen, Djavadan draws inspiration from a diverse array of theatrical traditions, continually seeking to bridge the worlds of Eastern and Western theatre in his artistic endeavors.
