Peter Friedman, born on April 24, 1949, is a versatile American actor known for his work on stage, in film, and on television. He hails from New York City and completed his education at Hofstra University. Friedman made his Broadway debut in 1972 with the production of The Great God Brown. His extensive theater repertoire includes notable performances in The Visit (1973), Piaf, and A Soldier's Play (both in 1981), The Heidi Chronicles (1989), Ragtime (1998), and Twelve Angry Men (2004). Throughout his career, he has received nominations for prestigious awards, including the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical and multiple Drama Desk Awards for his performances in various categories.

On the small screen, Friedman portrayed the role of George Silver, the family patriarch, in Brooklyn Bridge. He has also had guest roles in several acclaimed television series, such as Miami Vice, Law & Order, NYPD Blue, Without a Trace, Ghost Whisperer, and Damages. Additionally, he appeared in the television film Perfect Murder, Perfect Town: JonBenét and the City of Boulder.

Friedman’s film career boasts a wide array of credits, including Prince of the City, Daniel, The Seventh Sign, Single White Female, I'm Not Rappaport, I Shot Andy Warhol, Safe, Freedomland, The Savages, and I’m Not There. In 1990, he married actress Joan Allen, but the couple divorced in 2002. They have one daughter, Sadie, born in March 1994.
