Raised in Mountainside, New Jersey, Schram was an active athlete during her time at Jonathan Dayton High School. She later earned a tennis scholarship to the University of Maryland, where she graduated with a degree in advertising design. Despite her academic achievements, Schram harbored a passion for acting, deciding to pursue a career in film, television, and theater. Embracing the nickname Bitty, she has also maintained her Jewish faith throughout her life.

Her breakthrough role came in Penny Marshall's *A League of Their Own*, where she portrayed the spirited right fielder for the Rockford Peaches, delivering the iconic line, "There's no crying in baseball." From 1993 to 1995, Schram showcased her talent on Broadway, appearing in Neil Simon's *Laughter on the 23rd Floor*.
