Takayuki Godai
Takayuki Godai (五代高之, Godai Takayuki), born on July 1, 1956, is a prominent Japanese actor celebrated for his role as the shōgun's ninja, Saizō, in the iconic jidaigeki television series Abarenbō Shōgun. He made his debut as Saizō in Episode 57 of the show's third series and continued to portray this character through the fourth and fifth series, totaling approximately 190 episodes, solidifying his status in the genre.
Godai's stage name pays homage to a character created by the renowned actor Yujiro Ishihara in the 1969 film Eiko e no 5,000 kiro. In addition to his on-screen performances, Godai has made a name for himself as a voice actor, taking on significant roles in productions like Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan and as the antagonist Akudaikaan in the beloved series Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash Star.
In the realm of film, he starred alongside Rina Akiyama in the 2006 horror flick Eko eko azaraku: B-page and appeared in the 1985 adaptation of Yukio Mishima's The Sound of Waves, titled Shiosai. His filmography also includes a role in the 1981 movie Moonlight Mask.
