Mira Furlan
Mira Furlan (September 7, 1955 – January 20, 2021) was a prominent Croatian actress and singer, renowned for her contributions to theatre, film, and television in the former Yugoslavia.
In November 1991, she left her homeland alongside her husband, Goran Gajić, due to escalating political turmoil. Furlan gained international fame for her role as "Ambassador Delenn" in the acclaimed Warner Brothers television series "Babylon 5," which aired in 1994. Her performance earned her recognition, winning the Sci-Fi Universe Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Genre TV Series in both 1996 and 1997.
Throughout her career, Furlan appeared in over 25 films, showcasing her talent in leading roles. She was a familiar face on Yugoslav Television, where she took on prominent parts in various series and telefilms. Her exceptional work in the performing arts earned her numerous prestigious accolades in her home country, including two Golden Arenas, often referred to as the Yugoslav Oscars, for Best Actress.
In addition to her film and television achievements, Mira was an esteemed member of the Croatian National Theatre and frequently performed as a guest star at significant theatres across the nation, solidifying her legacy as one of the most celebrated artists of her time.
