Alex Stevens
Alex Stevens (January 6, 1936 – April 14, 2015) was a prominent American actor and stunt performer renowned for his memorable roles, particularly as the Werewolf in the cult classic series Dark Shadows and as The Baker on Sesame Street.
Hailing from Hartford, Connecticut, Stevens began his career performing in a western-themed amusement park in New Jersey, and he also participated in various Off-Broadway productions before gaining recognition in Dark Shadows. His portrayal of The Baker on Sesame Street became iconic, especially in "The Number Song" segments, where he humorously fell down stairs while balancing an array of desserts, captivating young audiences.
In addition to his television work, Stevens appeared in several films, including A Lovely Way to Die, Lady in Cement, Hercules in New York, The Groove Tube, and David Cronenberg's Scanners, showcasing his versatility as an actor.
His skills as a stunt performer were highlighted in major productions like The Gumball Rally, Superman, Three Men and a Baby, and Goodfellas. Stevens' stunt career came to a close in 1997 with a final appearance in an episode of Oz.
Alex Stevens passed away on April 14, 2015, in New York City, at the age of 79, leaving behind a legacy of beloved characters and thrilling performances that entertained audiences for decades.
