Anett Kontaveit, born on December 24, 1995, is a retired professional tennis player from Estonia who made a significant impact on the sport during her career. She achieved a remarkable peak ranking of No. 2 in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) on June 6, 2022, marking her as the highest-ranked player from Estonia in tennis history. In addition to her singles success, she reached No. 95 in doubles on March 2, 2020.

Throughout her career, Kontaveit secured six singles titles on the WTA Tour and claimed eleven singles and five doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Her most notable Grand Slam performance came at the 2020 Australian Open, where she advanced to the quarterfinals. Kontaveit also reached the finals of two WTA 1000 events, specifically at the 2018 Wuhan Open and the 2022 Qatar Open.

In a remarkable 2021 season, she triumphed in four titles over just seven tournaments from August to October, becoming the first Estonian player to qualify for the WTA Finals, where she ultimately reached the final match.

After being diagnosed with lumbar disc degeneration, Kontaveit announced her retirement in June 2023. She played her last professional match at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships on July 7, 2023, and concluded her career with a farewell match against her close friend Ons Jabeur at Tondiraba Ice Hall in Tallinn on November 11, 2023.
