Notably, Cray played an uncredited role as the bassist for the fictional band 'Otis Day and the Knights' in the classic 1978 film 'National Lampoon's Animal House.'

The Robert Cray Band made its recording debut in 1980, with subsequent albums that garnered critical acclaim and commercial success.
