Ho Tsung-Tao
Ho Tsung-Tao, better known by his stage name Bruce Li, embarked on his entertainment journey as a stuntman in the vibrant film industries of Taiwan and Hong Kong, initially going by James Ho. Following the untimely passing of the legendary Bruce Lee, he caught the attention of actor and producer Jimmy Shaw, who rebranded him as Bruce Li. His first significant appearance came while serving in the military, featuring in the film Good Bye Bruce Lee. In 1976, he further solidified his connection to the martial arts icon through documentaries such as The Young Bruce Lee and Bruce Lee: The Man, The Myth.
As Bruce Li, his career flourished, leading to producers in Taiwan and Hong Kong promoting him with direct associations to Bruce Lee, even using Lee's likeness on promotional materials. Notably, he portrayed Kato, the Green Hornet's sidekick—a role originally held by Bruce Lee—in the film Bruce Lee vs Supermen. Li became a prominent figure in the genre known as Bruceploitation, which capitalized on the legacy of the martial arts superstar.
However, in 1985, Ho's career took a turn following the death of his wife, prompting him to step away from acting. He returned to Taiwan, where he transitioned into a role as a physical education instructor at Taipei's Ping Chung University and shared his martial arts expertise with aspiring comedians. Since then, his appearances in martial arts films or Bruce Lee documentaries have been minimal.
