Bret Peter Tarrant McKenzie, born on June 29, 1976, in Wellington, New Zealand, is a multifaceted talent renowned for his work as a comedian, actor, musician, and producer. He gained significant fame as one half of the comedic musical duo Flight of the Conchords, alongside Jemaine Clement. Their unique blend of humor and music led to a popular BBC radio series in the 2000s, which later evolved into a critically acclaimed HBO television series that ran for two seasons. Since the duo's formation in 1998, they have continued to entertain audiences, with their latest comedy special, Live in London, released in 2018.

In addition to his comedic endeavors, McKenzie is a skilled musician and has made a name for himself as a songwriter and music supervisor in film and television since the 2010s. He notably served as the music supervisor for the Muppet films, The Muppets (2011) and Muppets Most Wanted (2014), earning an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Man or Muppet.” In the early 2000s, he also contributed to reggae fusion band The Black Seeds and the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra, and he ventured into solo work with the release of his debut album, Songs Without Jokes, in August 2022.

As an actor, McKenzie appeared as an elf in Peter Jackson's iconic The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. He gained a cult following for his unnamed role in The Lord of the Rings, affectionately dubbed Figwit by fans, and later portrayed Lindir in The Hobbit.
