Georges Laraque
Georges Laraque is a former professional ice hockey player who enjoyed a successful 13-season career in the NHL. Throughout his time in the league, he played for notable teams including the Edmonton Oilers, Phoenix Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Montreal Canadiens, earning the nickname "The Rock" due to his role as an enforcer on the ice. Born to Haitian immigrants, Laraque has been deeply involved in philanthropy, notably advocating for Haitian relief efforts and contributing to the restoration of the Grace Children’s Hospital in Port-au-Prince through his work with World Vision.
In addition to his athletic endeavors, Laraque has been a passionate advocate for animal rights and a prominent spokesperson for PETA. Embracing a vegan lifestyle in 2009, he has actively supported the vegetarian movement in Montreal, co-owning two popular raw vegan eateries, Crudessence and Rise Kombucha.
