Magali Amadei
Magali Amadei's journey into the world of modeling began at the young age of 16 when she was discovered while training in ballet at The Opera House in Nice. A transformative summer in New York City led her to pivot from her intended path of pre-medical studies in Japan to a full-time modeling career. Throughout her career, Amadei graced the covers of prominent magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Glamour, establishing herself as a recognized figure in the fashion industry.
Despite her success, Amadei faced significant challenges, notably a seven-year battle with bulimia, which culminated in a life-altering moment when she collapsed during a photoshoot. This experience prompted her to seek treatment and ultimately inspired her to advocate for mental health, particularly among young people. She began visiting schools to share her story and raise awareness about body image issues.
In addition to her modeling career, Amadei ventured into acting, appearing in various television shows and films, including supporting roles in "House of D" and "Taxi." In 2009, she collaborated with Claire Mysko to publish "Does This Pregnancy Make Me Look Fat?", a book addressing the complexities of body image and societal expectations during pregnancy. The publication received acclaim from the Los Angeles Daily News for its thoughtful and relatable approach to an often sensitive topic.
