Ronda Rousey
Ronda Jean Rousey, born on February 1, 1987, is a multifaceted American professional wrestler, actress, and former judoka and mixed martial artist. She gained prominence through her groundbreaking achievements in both the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and WWE.
Rousey's journey to fame began with her historic win at the 2008 Summer Olympics, where she became the first American woman to earn an Olympic medal in judo, securing a bronze. She entered the world of mixed martial arts (MMA) in 2011 with King of the Cage, later joining Strikeforce, where she made history as their last Women's Bantamweight Champion. Rousey was a pioneer in the UFC, participating in the organization’s inaugural female bout at UFC 157 and becoming its first Women’s Bantamweight Champion. She holds the record for the most title defenses by a female fighter in UFC history, with six defenses, until it was surpassed in 2022. In 2018, she became the first woman to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
Transitioning to professional wrestling in 2018, Rousey debuted in WWE at WrestleMania 34 and quickly captured the Raw Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. She headlined WWE’s all-women pay-per-view, Evolution, and participated in the first women's main event at WrestleMania 35. Rousey returned to WWE in 2022, winning the Royal Rumble and the SmackDown Women’s Championship twice, solidifying her status as a three-time women's world champion. In October 2023, she left WWE to compete on the independent circuit.
