Katherine Lau Ying-Hung
Katherine Lau Ying-Hung, born on July 16, 1955, is a distinguished Hong Kong singer and actress, formerly recognized by her birth name Hu Kouqin and affectionately known as Sister Liu. Initially adopting the stage name "Liu Yinghong" during her early career, she reverted to this name in the 1980s, which has remained her identity in the entertainment world.
Lau's journey in show business began when she enrolled in Li's TV artist training program in 1977. She joined TVB in 1986, quickly establishing herself in the industry before temporarily stepping away from the spotlight in 1995. After an eleven-year hiatus, she made a notable return to acting in 2006 with the series "A Small Story in a Big City" on Asian TV. Her comeback continued with a role in the mainland drama "Dahan Xianwei Zifu" in 2014.
In addition to her acting career, Lau has released several solo albums, showcasing her musical talent. Among her most recognized works are the poignant track "Change to Thousands of Hate" from the series "Celestial Silkworm Transformation" and the theme song for "Girl Cixi."
