Lung Sihung, also known as Lang Sihung, was a prominent Taiwanese actor born in 1930 and passed away on May 2, 2002. Renowned for his extensive film career, Lung appeared in over 100 movies, earning a reputation for his powerful portrayals of father figures in notable films such as The Wedding Banquet and Eat Drink Man Woman. Throughout his later career, he formed a significant partnership with acclaimed director Ang Lee, featuring in landmark films like Pushing Hands and the Oscar-winning Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

At a young age, Lung joined Chiang Kai-shek's army to combat the Chinese Communist Party. Following the Communist takeover of mainland China, he fled to Taiwan, where he was invited to join an army-run acting troupe. This opportunity sparked his passion for acting, leading to a prolific career where he often depicted tough characters or criminals in Chinese-language films and Taiwanese soap operas.

Although he had retired from acting, Ang Lee remembered him from his childhood and cast him in Pushing Hands, reigniting Lung's career. His poignant performance as an elderly man navigating modernity transformed him into an international sensation, particularly noted for his roles in what fans have dubbed the Father Knows Best trilogy.

Despite battling health issues, including diabetes, Lung continued to leave a mark on the film industry until his passing from liver failure at the age of 72.
