Yaz Canli
Yaz Canli is a multi-talented Turkish-German writer, director, and actor whose creative journey began in Europe after she earned a diploma in dramatic arts. Initially, she made her mark as an actor before relocating to Los Angeles to delve into the world of independent filmmaking. In 2016, Yaz made her directorial debut with the short film 'Walt & Ich,' which garnered significant recognition, leading to her being hailed as a "promising upcoming female director" by the Vancouver International Film Festival.
Her second short film, 'Man In Hoodie,' produced by Collins Ave Productions, achieved notable acclaim by winning the Audience Award at the New York City International Film Festival in 2020. Yaz's foray into feature films culminated in her debut as a writer, director, and star with 'My Home Unknown,' produced by Wallybird Productions and Threshold Entertainment. The film premiered at the prestigious DWF '23 at the iconic Chinese Theater in Hollywood and went on to participate in various film festivals, receiving ten nominations and winning Best North American Feature at the FeFF. Yaz's work on 'My Home Unknown' also earned her a PANAVISION Award Nomination for Outstanding Feature. The film is set to be distributed by Gravitas Ventures, with a release scheduled for Fall 2024.
