Stanley Kamel
Stanley Kamel (January 1, 1943 – April 8, 2008) was an accomplished American actor celebrated for his memorable portrayal of Dr. Charles Kroger on the acclaimed television series Monk. Born into a Jewish family in South River, New Jersey, Kamel received his early education at Rutgers Preparatory School. He initiated his acting journey in off-Broadway productions before transitioning to television, landing his first significant role as Eric Peters on the soap opera Days of Our Lives.
Kamel's career continued to flourish in the 1990s with a notable recurring role on the popular drama Melrose Place, where he played Bruce Teller, the CEO of D&D Advertising, a company where key characters Amanda (Heather Locklear) and Allison (Courtney Thorne-Smith) worked. His impressive range was further showcased when he appeared as Anthony Marchette, a menacing organized crime figure, in several episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210 during its sixth season.
However, Kamel is perhaps best remembered for his role on Monk, where he portrayed the compassionate psychiatrist Dr. Charles Kroger, providing unwavering support to the show's protagonist, Adrian Monk, played by Tony Shalhoub. Although his last appearance was in the sixth season, his character remained a beloved figure, with clips featuring Dr. Kroger appearing in the series finale. Kamel’s contributions to television left a lasting impact on both his colleagues and audiences alike.
