José Areas
José Octavio "Chepito" Areas Dávila, born on July 25, 1946, is a celebrated Nicaraguan percussionist renowned for his significant contributions to the Latin rock genre. Areas gained prominence during his tenure with the iconic band Santana, where he showcased his exceptional skills on the timbales and conga drums. His first stint with the band spanned from 1969 to 1977, a period marked by the release of several groundbreaking albums that fused rock with Latin influences, such as "Abraxas" and "Santana III."
