Hamilton Dlamini
Hamilton Dlamini, an acclaimed actor, playwright, director, and producer, was born in 1969 in Sebokeng, near Vanderbijlpark. He embarked on his acting journey in 1984 and is now the founder of Ndlondlo Productions, his own production company.
Dlamini's career is marked by several standout performances. He received the prestigious Naledi Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Mncedisi Shabangu’s Ten Bush during its run from 2008 to 2009. His collaboration with renowned artist William Kentridge and the Handspring Puppet Company on Woyzeck in the Highveld in 2009 garnered international attention, showcasing his talents on a global stage. He also starred alongside Mncedisi Shabangu in a production of Woza Albert! directed by Prince Lamla at the Market Theatre in 2012, which enjoyed a successful six-month run. In 2013, he performed in Athol Fugard's Nongogo under the direction of James Ngcobo.
A familiar face on South African television, Dlamini has appeared in various comedy and drama series, including his memorable roles as Ntokozo in SABC’s Zikhethele, Ndwandwe in Emzini Wezinsizwa, and Mojo in Stokvel. His influence extends to the corporate theatre scene, making him a prominent figure in the South African tavern industry.
Dlamini has also made notable contributions to film, winning a South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) for Best Supporting Actor in Regardt van den Bergh's Faith Like Potatoes (2006). He honed his directing skills under Vusi Dibakwane at Penguin Films and has directed multiple productions for eTV, including Sangoma, Mageza, and Isipoki.
