Jason Cermak, the younger of two siblings, grew up in the small town of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada. From a young age, he immersed himself in both sports and academics, taking advantage of every opportunity his rural community offered. Pursuing higher education, Jason attended the University of Calgary, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce and dedicated himself to a 12-year career in track and field, competing in the decathlon.

In 2000, Jason's journey into acting began unexpectedly when he met Matt Damon on the set of "The Bourne Identity" in Prague, where he was residing at the time. Inspired by this encounter, he sought representation and began training as a professional actor. With a pragmatic approach, Jason intended to utilize his commerce degree to support himself financially while gradually shifting his focus to acting full time. After graduating from the University of Calgary in 2000, he worked as a university instructor and an IT consultant for Deloitte, all while pursuing film and television projects on the side.

In 2006, while living in Melbourne, Australia, Jason made a pivotal decision to audition for the Canadian World War I film "Passchendaele." After resigning from his job and returning to Canada, he learned that he had secured a role in the film, marking a significant turning point in his career as he fully committed to acting while still managing his IT consulting business.
