1 title Acting May 21, 1971 Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA

Joshua Stuart Weinstein, known professionally as J. Elvis Weinstein, embarked on his journey in stand-up comedy at the tender age of 15 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. By 17, he had already made a significant mark as one of the original writer-performers of the beloved cult classic, *Mystery Science Theater 3000* (MST3K). In this groundbreaking series, he lent his talents to the iconic characters Tom Servo and Gypsy and played the role of Dr. Lawrence Erhardt. To distinguish himself from another writer named Josh Weinstein, he adopted the moniker "J. Elvis Weinstein."

After relocating to Los Angeles, Weinstein expanded his career as a writer and producer, contributing to a variety of network comedies such as *Freaks and Geeks*, *Malcolm and Eddie*, *Dead Last*, and *My Guide to Becoming a Rock Star*. He also served as the Head Writer on *America's Funniest Home Videos* and *Later with Greg Kinnear*. In 2008, he rejoined his MST3K colleagues to create *Cinematic Titanic*, a live tour that delighted fans across the U.S. and led to the production of 12 DVDs now available in a comprehensive box set.

In addition to his television work, Weinstein has directed and written three films, including two feature documentaries—*I Need You to Kill* and *Michael Des Barres: Who Do You Want Me to Be?*—as well as the comedy short *The Mediocre Samaritan*. He remains active in stand-up comedy, co-hosting the podcast *Thought Spiral* with Andy Kindler, and recently appeared in the feature film *The Fiddling Horse*.
