Christine Jorgensen

Christine Jorgensen (May 30, 1926 – May 3, 1989) made history as a pioneering American transgender woman, gaining significant attention as the first individual in the United States to undergo sex reassignment surgery. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York City, she graduated from high school in 1945 and was subsequently drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II.
