Scott Thompson, born on June 12, 1959, in North Bay, Ontario, is a prominent Canadian television actor and comedian renowned for his work with the iconic comedy troupe Kids in the Hall and his role as Brian on The Larry Sanders Show. Raised in Brampton, he was the second of five siblings. Thompson attended Brampton Centennial Secondary School, where he experienced the traumatic 1975 school shooting, later moving on to York University before being dismissed for disruptive behavior.

In 1984, he joined The Kids in the Hall, which launched its celebrated sketch comedy series in 1989 on CBC and HBO, later airing on CBS. Thompson gained fame for his unforgettable characters, including the flamboyant Buddy Cole, Queen Elizabeth II, and the suburban housewife Fran, showcasing his unique comedic style. Alongside his work in the troupe, he teamed up with writer Paul Bellini to form the queercore punk band Mouth Congress.

In the mid-1990s, Thompson launched an interactive website, ScottLand, which featured live chats, voting, and merchandise, including Buddy Cole T-shirts. His television credits also include a memorable role as Brian, the assistant to Hank Kingsley on The Larry Sanders Show, and guest spots on shows like Politically Incorrect and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. He hosted the Canadian reality show My Fabulous Gay Wedding and defended Mordecai Richler's novel Cocksure in the 2006 edition of Canada Reads. Thompson continues to act and tour, recently reuniting with the Kids in the Hall for various projects, including the 2010 series Death Comes to Town and a recurring role in NBC’s Hannibal as Jimmy Price.
