Jamie Lee O'Donnell is a talented actress celebrated for her portrayal of Michelle Mallon in the acclaimed Channel 4 comedy series, *Derry Girls*. Born on March 4, 1987, in Derry, Northern Ireland, O'Donnell honed her acting skills in local school productions, attending St Anne's Primary School, St Cecilia's College, and North West Regional College.

Despite her passion for acting, she faced financial constraints that prevented her from enrolling in drama school. Instead, O'Donnell pursued performing arts at De Montfort University in Bedfordshire, though she did not complete her studies. Determined to break into the industry, she began auditioning and balancing her time between England and her hometown, participating in various theatrical performances and working as a dancer in promotional events. During this period, she also took on jobs as a barista and even managed a corner shop, which ultimately did not succeed.

O'Donnell gained prominence between 2012 and 2015 with her role as Eva Maguire in the BBC2 NI series *6Degrees*, followed by an appearance in the film *Urban & the Shed Crew*. In 2018, she starred in the poignant theatre production *I Told My Mum I Was Going on an RE Trip*, and in 2019, she featured in the play *Girls and Dolls*, penned by *Derry Girls* creator Lisa McGee.

Her breakout role as Michelle Mallon in *Derry Girls* resonated with audiences worldwide, thanks to her character's bold and rebellious spirit. O'Donnell also participated in the RTÉ fundraising special *RTÉ Does Comic Relief*, alongside her co-stars and actress Saoirse Ronan, to support those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, she serves as a patron for the Liverpool-based youth theatre company 20 Stories High, showcasing her commitment to nurturing the next generation of talent.
