Alison Murray

Alison Murray, a talented Canadian/British screenwriter and director, divides her time between Canada and Argentina, where her creative pursuits flourish. In 2020, she commenced filming her latest feature, *Ariel*, in collaboration with The Film Farm and produced by Cepa Cine. Although production faced interruptions due to the global pandemic, it successfully wrapped up in June 2021.

Murray is known for her powerful documentaries that focus on marginalized communities. Her film *Caprichosos de San Telmo*, shot in Buenos Aires, debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival, continuing her mission to amplify the voices of those often overlooked. Another significant work, *Carny*, delves into the hidden lives of fairground workers and aired on renowned platforms such as the Sundance Channel, Channel 4 UK, and TVOntario. It premiered during the Hot Docs Festival and garnered accolades, including Best Documentary at the Brooklyn International Film Festival.

Her fictional feature debut, *Mouth to Mouth*, which she both wrote and directed, starred Oscar nominee Elliot Page. This film, notable for its choreographic storytelling, explores themes of belonging and premiered at the San Francisco International Film Festival. It went on to win multiple Best Feature awards, including at the Brooklyn International Film Festival and Berlin's Britspotting Festival.

Additionally, her documentary *Train on the Brain* for Channel 4 UK and TVOntario showcased her journey across North America, capturing the stories of marginalized youth and making a significant impact at the Glastonbury Festival. Murray's artistic foundation includes studies in theatre writing, dance, and choreography, and she earned an MA in Film from the Royal College of Art before transitioning into the film industry, where she initially directed music videos and short films.
