Richard Toth
Richard Toth's journey into performance began in the sixth grade, where he discovered that acting helped him manage a stuttering challenge. Over the years, his motivations evolved, yet he has continued to express himself clearly across various stages and screens in both the United States and Europe. After earning his degree from Fordham University at Lincoln Center, he sought opportunities in experimental theaters and comedy clubs in New York City. His enthusiasm for physical comedy led him to tour the United States with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus as a featured clown.
Transitioning from clowning to puppeteering, he joined Hudson Vagabond Puppets, traveling the country while skillfully manipulating larger-than-life puppets in a modified Bunraku technique. A subsequent engagement with an Italian circus took him to Europe, where he co-founded Misery Loves Company, an international performance collective that blended dynamic physicality, puppetry, and theatrical exploration. During his time in Europe, he appeared in several local and U.S. films, becoming a familiar face in the Prague-based action film scene with North American Pictures. Since returning to the U.S., Richard has remained active on the vibrant downtown NYC theater circuit, as well as in film and television. He is a proud member of SAG/AFTRA and AEA.
