Anna Samuil, a prominent soprano from Russia, has established herself as one of the most in-demand singers of her generation. Since 2004, she has been a distinguished soloist at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, showcasing her remarkable talent on the international stage.
Her career has taken her to some of the world's most prestigious opera houses, including La Scala in Milan, where she performed roles such as Donna Anna, Freia, and Gutrune. She has graced the stage of the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Musetta and has portrayed Violetta and Donna Anna at the Munich Staatsoper, alongside performances in Dresden (Mimì), Hamburg (Adina, Fiordiligi, Violetta), and other renowned venues in Valencia, Lyon, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Luxembourg.
Born in Perm, Russia, Samuil honed her craft at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, where she studied violin and voice, graduating with honors in 2003 from the esteemed vocal class of Irina Arkhipova. She is a recognized laureate of numerous international competitions, including the Tchaikovsky Competition and the Glinka Competition in Russia, as well as the Concorso Franco Corelli and Concorso Riccardo Zandonai in Italy, among others.
Samuil made her operatic debut as the Swan Princess at the Moscow Stanislawski Opera Theater, where she performed from 2001 to 2004, taking on roles such as Adele and Violetta. Her debut at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in 2003 as Violetta, conducted by Daniel Barenboim, marked the beginning of her illustrious association with the company, where she has since portrayed a diverse array of characters, including Tatiana, Mimì, and Elisabetta.
