Alain Minc, born on April 15, 1949, in Paris, is a prominent French businessman, political consultant, and author. He hails from a Jewish immigrant family from Poland; his father, Joseph Minkowski, was a dentist and active in the Communist Party.

Minc's educational background includes prestigious institutions such as the École nationale supérieure des mines de Paris, Sciences Po, and the École nationale d'administration. His professional journey began with significant roles in the corporate world. In 1979, he took on the role of Chief Financial Officer at Compagnie de Saint-Gobain. By 1981, he was recognized as one of the inaugural Young Leaders of the French-American Foundation. His career progressed as he became Vice-Chairman of CIR International and General Manager of Cerus, part of the Benedetti Group, in 1986.

In 1991, Minc established his own consultancy, AM Conseil, and has since held influential positions, including Chairman of the supervisory board of Le Monde. He has served on the boards of various organizations such as Criteria CaixaCorp, Prisa, Fnac, Direct Energie, Ingenico, and Yves Saint Laurent.

Minc has advised notable figures such as Edouard Balladur, François Pinault, Vincent Bolloré, and former President Nicolas Sarkozy. He stirred controversy in 2010 with his remarks on Pope Benedict XVI’s stance regarding the repatriation of French Romani. A member of the Nicolas Berggruen Institute, he has been honored with the Legion of Honour. Since December 2011, he has presided over the board of directors of Société des Autoroutes du Nord et de l'Est de la France (SANEF), which manages motorways in northeastern France under government concession.
