Soni Razdan
Soni Razdan, an accomplished Indian actress and the mother of Bollywood star Alia Bhatt, embarked on her artistic journey in English theatre, making her debut in John Fowler's play, The Collector. She transitioned into Hindi theatre with Bund Darvaze, an adaptation of Jean-Paul Sartre's No Exit. Razdan gained widespread recognition for her role as Sulochana in the iconic Doordarshan series Buniyaad and further showcased her talent in Hindi television with serials like Saahil and Gaatha.
Her cinematic career is equally impressive, with notable performances in films such as 36 Chowringhee Lane (1981), Ahista Ahista (1981), and Mandi (1983). She captivated audiences in Saaransh (1984), Trikaal (1985), Khamosh (1985), and Such a Long Journey (1988). Her filmography also includes Sadak (1991), Saathi (1991), and the critically acclaimed Monsoon Wedding (2001). More recently, Razdan appeared in Page 3 (2005), Jaan-E-Mann (2006), Patiala House (2011), and Love Breakups Zindagi (2011), as well as Shootout at Wadala (2013) and Love Affair (2016). She played a significant role in Meghna Gulzar's Raazi (2018), alongside her daughter Alia Bhatt. In 2019, she featured in No Fathers in Kashmir, Noblemen, and the action-thriller War, starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. In 2021, Razdan made her mark in the Netflix film Sardar Ka Grandson.
