Shinichi Himori, originally named Kazuo Moriyama, was a prominent Japanese film actor born on January 10, 1907, in Tokyo. His career spanned from 1925 until his untimely passing on September 12, 1959. Himori began his journey in the film industry at Shochiku studios in 1924, initially taking on minor roles. However, he quickly rose to prominence as a leading actor, particularly excelling in realistic cinema after the advent of sound in film.

One of his most notable performances came in Yasujirō Ozu's critically acclaimed film, *The Only Son*, which exemplified his talent for portraying authentic, relatable characters. Himori's commitment to realism and depth in his acting earned him collaborations with many of Japan's esteemed filmmakers, solidifying his reputation in the industry.

Following World War II, Himori's roles became less prominent, and he transitioned to more supportive parts. Tragically, his life was cut short due to a heart attack in 1959. In recognition of his contributions to cinema, Shochiku honored him with a company funeral, a testament to the impact he had on the film industry and his legacy as a dedicated artist. Throughout his career, Shinichi Himori appeared in over seventy films, leaving an indelible mark on Japanese cinema.
