Armenia Balducci
Armenia Balducci (July 4, 1937 – July 29, 2022) was a multifaceted Italian actress, screenwriter, and director. She began her career in the spotlight after being crowned Miss Testaccio, adopting the stage name Bella Visconti for her brief acting stint that included six films from 1953 to 1956. However, it wasn't until 1971 that Balducci made a notable return to cinema with a role in the film "Sacco and Vanzetti."
In addition to her film work, Balducci also made her mark in theatre and was actively involved with various left-wing political movements alongside her long-time partner, Gian Maria Volonté. She served as script assistant for renowned director Elio Petri on two occasions. In the late 1970s, she directed two films that offered a critical perspective on the bourgeoisie and law enforcement, although these projects did not achieve commercial success.
Her collaboration with filmmaker Giuseppe Ferrara spanned from 1986 to 1993, and she returned to this partnership in 2002, contributing as a scriptwriter. In the later years of her career, Balducci’s film "La rivincita," which was shot digitally, premiered at the Tierra di Siena festival, showcasing her enduring passion for cinema and storytelling.
