Norm Abram, born on October 3, 1949, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, has made a significant mark as an esteemed carpenter, author, and television personality. He is best known for his role as the master carpenter on PBS's iconic series *This Old House* and as the host of *The New Yankee Workshop*. Growing up in Milford, Massachusetts, Abram honed his carpentry skills under the guidance of his father and began working on construction sites at the tender age of nine. He briefly attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he started in mechanical engineering before transitioning to business administration, though he did not complete his degree.

In 1976, Abram established his own contracting firm, Integrated Structures Inc., after gaining valuable experience as a site supervisor at a construction company in New England. His television career took off in 1979 when he was recruited to construct a barn for producer Russell Morash, leading to his role as a staple on *This Old House*, where he quickly became a beloved figure known for his practical and skilled approach to craftsmanship. In 1989, he launched *The New Yankee Workshop*, where he showcased his woodworking talents for 21 seasons.

Throughout his career, Abram has appeared in over 1,000 episodes of *This Old House* and contributed to more than 50 significant home renovation projects. In addition to his television work, he has authored several books and supported educational initiatives like Generation NEXT. Norm Abram retired from *This Old House* in 2022, leaving behind a cherished legacy as one of America's most respected craftsmen and educators in woodworking.
