Armand Kaliz
Armand Kaliz, born on October 23, 1882 or 1883, was a prominent French-American actor recognized for his contributions to silent films and the early sound era of the 1930s. His origins are traced either to Paris or Warsaw, Poland, where he began his career as a celebrated performer in vaudeville.
Kaliz made his way to the United States in 1907, where he quickly transitioned to the stage, making his Broadway debut in the play *The Hoyden*. His theatrical repertoire included notable productions such as *The Kiss Burglar* in 1918 and *Spice of 1922* in 1922.
In addition to his stage work, Kaliz built a significant film career, appearing in approximately 82 films from 1917 to 1941. He gained recognition for his role in *The Temptress* (1926), which starred the iconic Greta Garbo. However, after 1933, many of his subsequent film roles were minor and largely uncredited.
Kaliz's career spanned several decades, showcasing his versatility as an actor during a transformative period in the film industry. He passed away on February 1, 1941, leaving behind a legacy of performances that contributed to the early landscape of American cinema.
