Karol Conká
Karoline dos Santos Oliveira, known to the world as Karol Conká, was born on January 1, 1986. She is a Brazilian singer-songwriter whose sound fuses contemporary hip-hop and rap with Brazilian pop and traditional musical elements. Her career took off in 2013 when she won Multishow’s Best New Artist award and released her debut album, *Batuk Freak*. That same year, her track “Boa Noite” was featured in the EA Sports video game *FIFA 14*, bringing her international attention. Her follow-up album, *Ambulante*, earned critical acclaim, ranking as the 34th best Brazilian album of 2018 by *Rolling Stone* Brasil and among the top 25 Brazilian albums of the second half of 2018 by the São Paulo Association of Art Critics.
In January 2021, Conká entered the reality show *Big Brother Brasil 21* as a contestant. Her sarcastic and often unempathetic interactions with fellow housemates sparked widespread backlash from both participants and viewers. On February 23, she was evicted with a record-breaking 99.17% of the public vote. Her experience on the show and its aftermath are chronicled in the 2021 Globoplay documentary series *A Vida Depois do Tombo*.
