Tõnu Tepandi, born on July 4, 1948, in Tallinn, is a distinguished Estonian actor, singer, educator, and politician, recognized for his contributions to the arts and culture in Estonia. His educational journey began at Tallinn 2. Secondary School, where he studied from 1955 to 1966, followed by the Tallinn Conservatory, where he specialized in acting from 1966 to 1970.

Tepandi's professional career began at the Vanemuine Theater, where he performed from 1970 to 1983, later joining the Estonian National Youth Theater from 1983 to 1987. His expertise in voice led him to become a lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he was promoted to professor in 2006. In addition to his theatrical work, he was actively involved in the humor organization Aara from 1987 to 1992 and has been a freelance actor since then.

In the realm of public service, Tepandi served as the Deputy Chairman of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia from 1994 to 1997 and held the position of Chairman of the Endowment of Applied Arts. He was also a member of the Riigikogu from 1992 to 1999 and led the Estonian Theater Association from 1994 to 2000. Notably, he chaired the jury for the Estonian Drama Festival between 1996 and 1998, further solidifying his influence in Estonia's cultural landscape.
