C.J. Laing, originally named Wendy Miller, was born on August 1, 1956, in New York City. Her entrance into the adult film industry began in San Francisco, where she participated in a series of adult loops titled "Juke Joint," produced by the renowned Mitchell Brothers, famous for their work on Behind the Green Door (1972). After moving back to New York, Laing made her debut in a theatrical adult feature in 1975 while still in her teens. Over a dynamic yet short-lived career spanning just five years, she appeared in more than 50 adult films and loops.

Laing was frequently cast in challenging victim roles, notably enduring graphic portrayals in films such as Sex Wish (1976) and The Taking of Christina (1976).
