Charles Robert Band, born on December 27, 1951, is a multifaceted American actor, screenwriter, director, and film producer known for his significant contributions to the independent film industry. In the 1970s, he founded Charles Band Productions, which eventually evolved into Full Moon Features, a company dedicated to producing and distributing films primarily for the home market.

Over the years, Band has established several subsidiary companies, including Moonbeam Entertainment, Filmonsters, Action Xtreme, and Pulsepounders, each targeting diverse audiences such as children and tweens. Additionally, he launched Torchlight Entertainment and Surrender Cinema, which focused on producing soft-core adult films. His ventures also included Monster Island Entertainment, known for its rubber-suit monster movies, and Alchemy Entertainment, which later became Big City Pictures, specializing in urban horror. At one point in the early 2000s, he rebranded Full Moon as Shadow Entertainment to realign with his original vision, during which J.R. Bookwalter's Tempe Entertainment produced several films.

Since 2004, Band has been actively involved in the production and direction of nearly all films under the Full Moon banner, including the revival of the Wizard Video line. His entrepreneurial spirit extended to merchandise, with the introduction of Full Moon Toys featuring characters from his films, and the Monster Bra line offering novelty items. Additionally, Full Moon Records has released soundtracks, including works by his brother, Richard Band, while comic adaptations of popular franchises like Puppet Master and Trancers have been published through Eternity Comics.
