Olivier Père
Olivier Père, born in 1971 in Marseilles, France, is a distinguished figure in the world of cinema. He earned his degree in Humanities from the prestigious Sorbonne University (Paris IV) and embarked on a remarkable career in film curation and programming.
In 1995, Père joined the French Cinémathèque, where he quickly took on the responsibility of programming, orchestrating a variety of retrospectives and thematic seasons that celebrated cinematic history. His expertise led him to a significant role with the Belfort "Entrevues" Film Festival in 1996, where he continued to curate retrospectives over the years. Since 1997, he has contributed to the cultural magazine "Les Inrockuptibles," sharing his insights on film, television, and DVD releases.
From 2004 to 2009, Père took the helm of the Directors' Fortnight, the independent section of the Cannes Film Festival, showcasing innovative filmmakers and their works under the SRF (Société des Réalisateurs de films).
In 2009, he was appointed as the artistic director of the Festival del film Locarno, a position he held until 2012. That same year, he ascended to the role of Managing Director at Arte France Cinéma, a subsidiary dedicated to film production and distribution.
