Ed Parker

Edmund Kealoha Parker, born on March 19, 1931, was a prominent American martial artist, actor, and senior grandmaster who is best known as the founder of American Kenpo Karate. His innovative approach to martial arts blended traditional techniques with modern concepts, making Kenpo accessible to a wider audience.

Parker's martial arts journey began in Hawaii, where he trained under the legendary master, William Chow. He later moved to the mainland United States, where he established his first dojo in California. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, he gained recognition for his dynamic teaching style and commitment to refining Kenpo, which emphasized practical self-defense techniques and physical conditioning.

In addition to his martial arts career, Parker made a mark in the entertainment industry.
