Vivek
Vivek was a multifaceted Indian film actor, comedian, television host, playback singer, and activist, renowned for his impactful contributions to the Tamil cinema landscape. He made his film debut under the guidance of celebrated director K. Balachander and quickly became a beloved figure in the industry. Over the course of his career, which spanned more than 220 films, Vivek garnered numerous accolades, including three Filmfare Best Comedian Awards for his roles in popular films such as "Run" (2002), "Saamy" (2003), and "Perazhagan" (2004). He also received five Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for Best Comedian, recognizing his stellar performances in "Unnaruge Naan Irundhal" (1999), "Anniyan" (2005), and "Sivaji" (2007), among others.
In recognition of his artistic contributions, the Government of India honored Vivek with the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2009. Additionally, Sathyabama University awarded him an honorary doctorate for his societal contributions through cinema. Beyond acting, Vivek showcased his talents as a television host, engaging with notable figures like A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Inspired by Kalam’s commitment to environmental issues, he founded the Green Kalam initiative in 2010, aiming to plant one billion trees throughout Tamil Nadu, exemplifying his dedication to sustainable development.
