Maggie Aderin-Pocock

Dame Margaret Ebunoluwa Aderin-Pocock is a distinguished space scientist and passionate science communicator from the United Kingdom. She holds the position of honorary research associate within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at University College London and has been serving as the chancellor of the University of Leicester since March 1, 2023.

Maggie gained widespread recognition as a co-presenter of the esteemed astronomy series The Sky at Night, which she has been a part of since February 2014, alongside Chris Lintott. Her contributions to public engagement in physics were honored in 2020 when she received the William Thomson, Lord Kelvin Medal and Prize from the Institute of Physics. Additionally, she made history as the first black woman to be awarded a gold medal in the Physics News Award.

Her leadership capabilities were further showcased during her tenure as president of the British Science Association from 2021 to 2022, where she advocated for the importance of science in society.
