Velda Otsus
Velda Otsus, born on August 24, 1913, in Tartu, Estonia, and passing away on August 16, 2006, in Tallinn, was a distinguished ballet dancer and stage actress whose contributions to the performing arts left a lasting legacy in Estonia.
Otsus completed her education at Tartu Girls' Gymnasium in 1932, where she also honed her dance skills under the guidance of Tiina Kapper at a private studio. Her professional career began at the Vanemuine Theatre, where she served as the principal ballerina from 1932 until 1950. Her time there was marked by exceptional performances that showcased her talent and passion for dance.
In 1950, Otsus transitioned to acting, continuing her artistic journey at the same theatre, and remained there until 1961. Following this period, she joined the Estonian Drama Theatre, where she worked as an actress until her retirement in 1982.
