Fan Mei-Sheng
Fan Mei-sheng (樊梅生), widely recognized as Fan Mui Sang, was born on September 13, 1942, and has established himself as a prominent figure in Hong Kong's Cantonese film industry. His acting career commenced in 1964 with his debut in "The Story of Sue San." He gained significant recognition through his work with Shaw Brothers Studio, notably portraying the character 'Black Whirlwind' in the classic film "All Men Are Brothers."
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Fan became a familiar face in many martial arts films and thrillers, often taking on the role of the antagonist. In 1979, he stepped into the spotlight after stepping in for Simon Yuen, who passed away during production, in "The Magnificent Butcher." This performance, along with his portrayal of an explosives expert in "The Postman Fights Back," solidified his reputation in the industry.
Additionally, Fan appeared in Michael Cimino's "Year of the Dragon," contributing to a remarkable filmography that spans over one hundred films. Beyond acting, he has also made his mark as a director with the 1978 film "Amsterdam Connection," and as a producer with "Dark Side of Chinatown," released in 1989. Fan Mei-sheng's versatile talents have left an indelible impact on Hong Kong cinema.
